Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I started racing 50's in 01, and then dropped out of racing in 03 after I got my 65 due to lack of funds. But I started back up in 2009.

List your competitive highlights:

So far, the best I've had is a 15th overall at Berthoud for the 125 Novice class, and then an 18th Overall at Watkins for the Open Novice class. That's about it so far, I missed most of the races in 09 due to an injury...hopefully the 2010 season will be better.

What are you planning for next season?

For 2010, I'm hoping to have an injury free season, better results (maybe a couple podium finishes?), and to have fun!

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Getting the holeshot at Watkins on my 125 against a field of four strokes...then I almost finished 4th but I crashed right before the finish line. It was the LCQ lol...that's pretty much it though.

Q&A - Personal

Why do you like this sport?

Wow, there's just too much to list here. To make it short though, I'll just have to say that there's nothing else in the world that makes me feel the way I do while I'm riding, or racing. Don't know if it's the adrenaline, the possibility of going pro, etc. I just love the sport.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

So far I've been pretty lucky with this haha, the only time I could honestly say I was slightly embarassed was when I started a gear high and bogged out off the gate. I'm sure I'll have my times though...

Describe your style...

Pretty loose for the most part. I used to do a lot of BMX which I think helped a lot with that though. I tend to ride over my head a lot too when I'm racing, but I'm sure everybody does that...

What inspires you to compete?

Other than the thought of going pro, all the fun I have while racing is good enough inspiration for me. I don't know what I'd do without it.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Well...when I'm not sore from a crash or something, I try to make it to the gym as much as I can. While I'm there, I spend about 1 hour on Cardio and then the other hour on getting my strength up. I've always been a pretty skinny kid and mostly out of shape, but ever since I joined the gym last year that's changed quite a bit. For riding, I usually ride every weekend if there's not a race. There's a couple times where and me and my uncle will go out in the middle of the week, but with his work schedule, it doesn't happen much.
