Heidi Cooke remains perfect in her quest for a third Women’s Motocross Championship in Canada

Riverside, CA (August 4, 2009) – The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki team entered round seven of the Monster Energy CMRC Motocross Nationals with high expectations. Bobby Kiniry and Jack Carpenter rode their strongest motos of the season and Paul Carpenter fought to stay in the championship points chase with a third overall. Jack Carpenter rode to his highest finish of the year with a fourth overall and Kiniry was dropped to twelfth overall because of a second moto DNF.

Bobby Kiniry and Jack Carpenter secured great starts in the first moto and Kiniry was soon in the lead followed closely by Jack Carpenter in third position. Kiniry had a great battle with the current points leader for quite a few laps until going down. Meanwhile, Paul Carpenter didn’t get a very good start and had to battle through the field and eventually caught his two teammates who were battling for third. In the end, it was a Kiniry finishing on the podium in third followed by Paul and Jack Carpenter in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Paul Carpenter led the pack through the first turn in the second moto but fell to third by the end of the first lap. He settled into a consistent pace and rode to an easy third place finish in the moto. Meanwhile, Kiniry was riding very well but a rock damaged his water cooler during the moto forcing him to retire to the pits early. Jack Carpenter rode another solid race and finished in fifth position again.

The Women’s Motocross Nationals resumed at the Riverglade MX track and the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki entry, Heidi Cooke, dominated once again. Cooke has not lost a moto this year and battled to another first place this weekend.

The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to San Del Lee MX Park in Richmond, ON on Aug 9, 2009 for round eight of the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.

Kiniry and Carpenter Battle the Mud and Rain to Fi...

Riverside, CA (July 28, 2009) – Round six of the Monster Energy CMRC Motocross Nationals visited a rain-drenched Ste-Thecle Motocross track in Quebec this weekend. Heavy rains and a modified event schedule did not stop Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki’s Bobby Kiniry and Paul Carpenter from finishing inside the top ten.

The qualifying schedule for Sunday’s MX1 Pro race was cancelled due to the heavy rain and poor track conditions, and the schedule was reduced to one moto as opposed to the usual two moto format. Paul Carpenter and Kiniry got great jumps from the starting line but were involved in a multiple rider crash in the muddy first turn. The team’s third rider, Jack Carpenter managed to avoid the first turn mayhem and rounded the first lap in sixth position. After the second lap, Jack moved into fourth position but eventually pulled off the track with a burnt clutch. Kiniry and Paul Carpenter rode a consistent race to finish in sixth and ninth, respectively.

“The racing conditions were horrendous this weekend,” stated team manager, Derek Sorenson. “Jack was riding a smart race until he had his clutch go out and Bobby and Paul got great starts but got taken out in the first turn. Racing in these conditions is tough, especially on a hard packed track like this, but we came out just fine. Paul still sits in third in championship points and Bobby isn’t far behind in fourth, so we can push hard through the last few rounds to see what happens.”

Paul Carpenter Scores Another Moto Win in the CMRC...

Riverside, CA (July 20, 2009) – Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter earned another moto win in the second MX1 Pro moto to earn fourth overall on the day. Heidi Cooke continued her domination in the Women’s pro class by winning both motos on Sunday.

The Gopher Dunes track is one of the toughest on the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals circuit and it definitely took a bite out of all three team riders. Paul and Bobby Kiniry both got top five starts but had multiple problems and crashes. Kiniry rode to a solid sixth place despite his problems and Paul Carpenter rode to an eleventh after three hard crashes. Jack Carpenter crashed in the first turn and rode to a 21^st position after multiple crashes as well.

The second moto started much better after Paul secured a top five start and quickly moved into second position. After following the leader for a short time, he capitalized on a mistake by the leader to make a pass and won the moto by sixteen seconds. Jack Carpenter rode to an eleventh place finish despite a poor start and finished in eighteenth overall. Kiniry struggled with consistency in the second moto and finished in ninth position for eighth overall on the day.

Heidi Cooke won both motos in the Women’s class by a wide margin to continue her win streak. Cooke has won all six motos of the Women’s class and continues to show her dominance in her quest for the championship.

Carpenter Podiums in Canadian Motocross

Riverside, CA (June 22, 2009) – The fourth round of the 2009 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals visited a very wet Morden, Manitoba this weekend. Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter continued to battle for the championship with a first moto win and second overall for the day. Bobby Kiniry continues his consistency with a fourth overall and Jack Carpenter rode away with twelfth overall despite a first moto DNF.

The start of the first MX1 Pro moto saw all three Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki riders towards the front of the field. Paul quickly moved into second but he could not close the distance on the leader. It looked like Paul would have to settle for the runner up spot until the leader made a mistake. This gave Paul a chance to close the gap to the leader’s back wheel and make a pass for the lead. Paul gained new life from the pass and eventually won the moto by six seconds. Kiniry had an uneventful race to finish in fourth position and Jack had bike problems that forced him to the pits early.

Jack Carpenter secured a fifth place start in the second moto while Paul and Kiniry saw themselves buried deep in the pack. Eventually, Paul and Kiniry moved into a position where Jack was fourth, Paul was fifth and Kiniry was sixth. Once Paul moved into third he was on a mission to close the fifteen second gap to the rider in second place. In the end, he barely missed second place as the checkered flag cut his charge short and he settled for third. Kiniry finished with a fourth and Jack followed in sixth.

For the overall series, Paul still remains in 3^rd, Bobby fourth and Jack not far behind in 9^th position.

Paul Carpenter Takes His First Win of the Season I...

Riverside, CA (June 22, 2009) – Paul Carpenter scored his first win of the 2009 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton this weekend. The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki rider rode to a third place in moto one and easily won the second moto for the overall win. Bobby Kiniry earned a fourth overall and Jack Carpenter finished in sixteenth after some hard crashes.

Each of the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki riders had problems in the first MX1 moto. Bobby Kiniry got a great jump out of the starting gate but he was quickly dropped back in the pack when he missed a shift. Jack Carpenter shot out of the gate as well and rounded the first turn inside the top five. However, two hard crashes sent Jack to the pits early to prepare for the second moto. Paul ended up with a decent start inside the top ten but received damage to his goggles from a rock on the first lap. Despite the vision problems he managed to work his way into third position at the end of the moto as Kiniry battled through the pack to secure a very respectable fifth place.

The second moto saw all three riders start inside the top ten with Paul Carpenter and Kiniry leading the way in the top five. Kiniry quickly moved into second position but bad luck struck again when his shift lever broke on the second lap. Even though he struggled with the broken shifter Kiniry still crossed the finish line in fourth place, while Jack Carpenter was still not 100% and finished in fourteenth. Meanwhile, Paul worked his way into second position early in the race and set his sights on the leader. Paul latched onto the leader’s back wheel and made the pass for the lead around the halfway point of the race. He continued to ride strong and distanced himself from the rest of the riders to secure his first moto win of the season.

“I’m so happy to get this win,” exclaimed Paul after the win. “The whole team has been working really hard and we thought the win would come sooner. Hopefully we can carry this momentum to the next rounds and close the point’s gap.

Heidi Cooke Wins Both Motos in the Women’s Pro Nationals

Riverside, CA (June 15, 2009) –The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki racing team visited Calgary’s Wild Rose MX Park for the second round of the CRMC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals this weekend. Each of the MX1 Pro class riders finished in the top ten with Paul Carpenter getting another third place overall podium finish. Heidi Cooke maintained her dominance in the Women’s Pro class by winning both motos in dominating fashion.

Paul Carpenter nearly got the holeshot in the first MX1 Pro moto and Jack Carpenter followed close behind in sixth position. Meanwhile, Bobby Kiniry did not get good traction off the concrete starting pad and started near the back of the field. He charged through the field to end up with a sixth place at the finish, while Paul raced to an uneventful second place. Jack Carpenter may be the biggest surprise of the series and he is showing that he has what it takes to finish at the top. Jack quickly moved into fourth position after the start and broke away with the lead pack. He continued to charge until the end of the race to finish in the fourth spot.

“I’m happy with my ride so far,” commented Jack. “This is my first full season so we weren’t exactly sure what to expect and we’ve been able to make things happen. I’m feeling comfortable on the bike and looking forward to improving each race.”

Jack was already looking to improve on his results with a third place start in the second moto. Unfortunately, he went down early in the race and remounted in nearly dead last. Paul started just inside the top ten and had to work through a group of fast riders to reach the leaders. However, by the time he worked his way into third the leaders were too far ahead to make a move. He rode a safe race to finish in third with Kiniry following him in fifth after another poor start.

The Women’s Pro class was another dominating performance from Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki’s Heidi Cooke. Cooke got an unusually bad start in moto one and quickly moved from eighth position to the lead. Once in the lead she never looked back to cross the finish line first. In the second moto, she got the holeshot and led wire-to-wire for her second overall win of the season.

The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to Castrol Raceway in Edmonton on June 20-21, 2009 for round three of the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.

Paul Carpenter Gets a Podium For Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki

Heidi Cooke Wins the Women’s Motocross Class

Riverside, CA (June 8, 2009) – The first round of the CRMC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals got underway this weekend and all three Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki riders finished in the top ten. Paul Carpenter lead the team with a third place overall finish while Heidi Cooke grabbed the win in the Women’s Pro class.

In the MX1 Pro class first moto, Paul Carpenter got a top five start while Bobby Kiniry followed just inside the top ten. Jack Carpenter did not get a good start and found himself towards the back of the field. Despite his lackluster start, Jack charged through the field to earn a well deserved tenth position at the end of the moto. Kiniry was pushing hard but contact with another rider left him without a rear brake. He would eventually finish in seventh position while Paul Carpenter rode a consistent race to finish third.

All three riders got poor starts in the second moto but quickly moved into the top ten. Paul was moving up the fastest and worked up to sixth by the fourth lap. However, he was forced to the middle of the pack after colliding with another rider. He put on another charge and passed numerous riders to finish the moto in fifth place. Jack Carpenter and Kiniry had their own battles and worked through the pack as well. Jack worked his way up to eighth and Kiniry finished the moto in sixth to earn eighth and ninth overall, respectively.

“Today didn’t quite go as planned,” commented Paul Carpenter after the race. “I didn’t ride the race that I thought I could but we still came out with a third overall for the day. I know our team will be ready to go next week and I’m looking forward to battling with these guys again.”

Cooke dominated the Women’s Pro class by leading every lap of both motos to secure the overall win. Cooke grabbed the holeshot of the first moto and rode consistent to cross the finish line in first place. In the second moto, she got another great start and charged to the front by the end of the first lap. Once again, Cooke showed that she is the rider to beat as she crossed the finish line first.

“I’m very happy with the results this weekend,” said Cooke. “We have worked very hard during this off season and it is nice to see it pay off with a win. We just need to keep the momentum going and continue to ride strong for the rest of the series.”

Riverside, CA (June 5, 2009) – The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing team is looking forward to competing in the 2009 CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals. The team will consist of Paul Carpenter, Bobby Kiniry and Jack Carpenter competing in the Pro MX1 class, and Heidi Cooke is the team’s Women’s Motocross class entrant.

Paul Carpenter competed in the United States last year but makes his return to Canada after winning the 2007 CMRC Motocross Nationals Championship. “I thoroughly enjoy riding in Canada,” explained Carpenter. “Everyone in Canada, from the other riders, to the promoters, and to the fans, are just awesome. It is so much fun to rider up in Canada and I’m really glad to be back. There’s a lot of competition up here this year, though. It is going to be very tough to get that championship back, but we’ve really been working hard since the Supercross season ended. It will be a great fight but I think we’ll be up there at the end of the season.”

Bobby Kiniry is new to the team this year and showed everyone how much speed he has from the Supercross season. Although this is Kiniry’s first time racing in the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals he knows what it takes to win. “I’m really excited about getting started this weekend,” said Kiniry. “I didn’t have the best of luck in the Supercross season so it’s nice to start fresh with a new season. This is going to be an exciting season for myself and the fans since there are so many guys that can win.”

Jack Carpenter is another new addition to the team and will be moving up to the MX1 class after riding in the Supercross Lites class in the U.S. “Canada will be a new experience for me,” commented Jack on his first venture into the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals. “I know I have a lot to learn but I’ve been preparing a lot with my teammates. The team has been working hard and I think we have the best equipment out there. I can’t wait for that gate to drop so we can get to racing and give the fans a good show.”

Heidi Cooke will be making her return to the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki team as the Women’s class competitor. Like Paul, she won the title in 2007 and scored second overall last year. “I’m really hoping to regain that number one plate this year,” said Cooke. “Last year was a little disappointing but we are ready this year. I have really focused on my training and preparation this year. We spent some time down in California to do some testing with the team so we are ready to go. It will certainly be another tough year but I hope to be on top of the podium at the end of the season.”

Riverside, CA (May 8, 2009) – The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing team entered the final two rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series with high expectations. Both riders suffered injuries during the middle of the season but both were finally feeling healthy for the final two rounds.

After winning the Last Chance Qualifier to transfer to the Las Vegas Main Event, Bobby Kiniry got a good start inside the top ten and rounded the first lap in eighth position. He continued to battle inside the top ten until he went down. “I was having trouble in the second whoop section all night,” explained Kiniry. “So, I was really concentrating on the turn prior to make sure I was setup correctly. I just made a simple mistake in the turn and ended up going down. It’s unfortunate because I felt very good tonight and believe I could have finished in the top ten.”

Carpenter made the Main Event at Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. In fact, he made every Main Event that he entered this season with an eighth place being his top finish. “At the beginning of the season I just couldn’t get a start so I was constantly working my way through the pack”, said Carpenter. “We know the bikes are good because Bobby was getting great starts. I made some adjustments before I got hurt so that helped me and I finally felt healthy in these last few rounds to put in some quality rides.”

Despite missing five rounds due to injury, Carpenter entered the final round in Vegas with a chance of moving into third for the Privateer Award. “Paul gave up five rounds where he didn’t get any points,” Commented team manager, Derek Sorenson. “If he didn’t get hurt, I’m confident that Paul would have been in the mix at Vegas and contending for the top Privateer honors. But, unfortunately that’s a part of racing. The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki team is proud of Paul and Bobby, though. They both rode hard this year despite their injuries.”

Riverside, CA (April 22, 2009) – Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki rider Paul Carpenter raced to an eighth place at round fifteen of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Carpenter secured his best finish of the season in front of 50,016 fans at Seattle, Washington’s Qwest Field. The top ten finish moves him into sixteenth position in the series, despite missing points in five rounds due to injury.

Carpenter and teammate Bobby Kiniry rode well in their qualifying practices and each set some pretty fast lap times. However, towards the end of the final practice session, Kiniry injured his ribs after crashing with another rider. Despite the pain, he qualified for the evening program in nineteenth, with Carpenter qualifying with the eleventh fastest time.

Kiniry struggled with pain throughout his heat race and failed to qualify for the Main Event. Carpenter got a decent start in his heat race and qualified with an eighth place finish to transfer to the Main Event. He rounded the first turn of the Main Event in a mid-pack position and mounted a strong charge on a quickly deteriorating track. He charged forward and passed many riders as he continued to ride strong on the rutted track. At the end of the race, Carpenter was only passed by the two championship contenders to finish in his eighth place position.

“Tonight was a pretty good night,” explained Carpenter. “The track was getting pretty beat up so I just wanted to stay consistent and everything worked out. I’m getting stronger each week and I’m almost back to one-hundred percent now so I’m feeling good entering these last two rounds”

Riverside, CA (March 22, 2009) – Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter returned to action in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series with an impressive tenth place finish. After missing the last five rounds due to injury he turned in one of his best rides of the season in front of almost 56,000 fans at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. Bobby Kiniry also showed great speed throughout the day but missed the Main Event due to problems in his qualifying races.

Both Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki riders qualified well to secure good gate picks in their qualifying races. Kiniry got a great start in the first qualifying race and rounded the first lap in fourth place. However, he went down after colliding with another rider and could not get back into a qualifying position. In the Last Chance Qualifier race, he tangled with another rider destroying any hopes of qualifying for the Main Event. Carpenter easily qualified for the Main Event with a career-best third place heat race finish.

Carpenter missed the Holeshot Award by a half-wheel and continued through the first rhythm section in second place. After some minor mistakes, he found himself outside of the top five but continued to ride consistent through the main event. “I’m just happy to be riding again,” said Carpenter. “I finally got the good starts that I’ve been missing so that was huge. There’s still a lot of racing left and I hope to get better each week and improve on my finishes.”

Paul Carpenter Expands on Privateer Challenge Poin...

Riverside, CA (January 18, 2009) – Paul Carpenter and Bobby Kiniry went into Angel Stadium looking to put the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki KX450F’s into the Supercross Main Event. Both riders qualified for the Main Event and Carpenter expanded his Privateer Challenge point lead in front of the 43,009 fans in attendance. In fact, the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki team was only one of a handful of teams to qualify at least two riders to the Main Event, and the only Privateer team to accomplish the task.

The qualifying heat races saw mixed results for the two Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki riders. Kiniry got caught up in a first-turn pileup in his heat race and was forced to go to the Last Chance Qualifier. Carpenter was in the second heat race and started up front with the leaders. He held on to finish in fifth place to qualify for the Main Event.

Kiniry pulled the holeshot in the Last Chance Qualifier and had a brief battle with the second place rider. He eventually pulled out to a commanding lead and easily won the LCQ to qualify for the Main Event. “We had some bad luck in the heat race so we came into the LCQ ready to win,” commented Kiniry. “I’ve felt good all day and rode really well in practice so it is kind of disappointing to go the LCQ. But we got the Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki in the Main Event so I’m happy about that.”

In the Supercross Main Event, Kiniry entered turn one with the leaders despite his poor gate pick. However, as the pack was going through the slow first turn of the Anaheim track, he was slammed from behind and knocked into another rider. Both riders went down and it took some time for Kiniry to get going again. After fighting through the pack, he hit a rider that had suddenly slowed on the track and went down again. He went on to salvage some championship points and finished in nineteenth position.

On the other hand, Carpenter got a bad start in the Main Event but managed to pass numerous riders as he finished the first lap in eleventh position. Carpenter rode a steady race and had a great battle with another rider for most of the race. He eventually passed the rider and finished in eleventh position, just behind two factory riders. “Overall, we had a pretty good weekend even though I didn’t finish in the top ten,” said Carpenter. “Getting a good start was so important because the track was so difficult to pass on. Obviously, I didn’t get the best start but I felt like I rode pretty well.”

The Monster Energy Cernic’s Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX next week for round two of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series on January 24, 2009.

Phoenix, AZ (January 11, 2009) – The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Team entered round two of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series with high expectations. After a solid performance the previous week, Paul Carpenter and Bobby Kiniry both qualified for the Supercross main event out of their heat races.

Kiniry took the gate in the first heat race with a mid-pack start. He found himself in ninth place at the end of the first lap and began his charge to catch the pack of riders in front of him. He rode smooth and consistent to qualify for the main with a seventh position. The second heat race featured Carpenter but a poor start forced him to work hard to get into qualifying position. By the end of the first lap he charged up to tenth place, and eventually moved to eighth place at the finish line. Once again, both Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki riders qualified for the main event.

At the start of the main event, Kiniry rounded the first few turns in seventh place and set his sights on a top ten finish. However, as he entered the sand section of the fast paced Phoenix track, another rider made a slight bobble and Bobby went down. Kiniry picked his bike up in last place and worked hard to gain positions. In the end, Kiniry could only pick up a few spots and finished the race in sixteenth place. “I’m really frustrated with myself,” said Kiniry. “I got a pretty decent start and we were in a great position to get a top ten finish. I felt like I was riding well again, but we just can’t put the results together yet. We’re working hard so I know the results will come.”

Carpenter got a bad jump off of the gate and entered turn one in the back of the field. Just like the prior week, he had to make his charge from way back. This track was much more difficult to pass on and he could only work his way back to thirteenth position at the finish. “My starts are really hurting me right now and we’re going to work on that this week,” explained Carpenter. “I know the speed is there but this track was just tough to make a pass stick. There was a whole pack of riders in front of me and a good start would have put me at the front of the that pack.”

The Cernics Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California next week for round three of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series on January 17, 2009.

Anaheim, CA (January 4, 2009) – Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter rode to a tenth place finish in the opening round of the Monster Energy® Supercross Series at Angel Stadium. Carpenter’s teammate, Bobby Kiniry made the main event making the Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki team the only privateer team to qualify both team riders to the main event.

In the main event, both team riders got bad starts and found themselves at the back of the pack. Kiniry tangled with another rider on the first lap and damaged his throttle. Despite the setback, the Supercross class rookie rode strong and proved that he has the speed to finish in the top ten.

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect coming into tonight,” explained Kiniry. “I’ve only been on the bike for a few weeks since my shoulder injury, so my goal was to ride well and get some points. I did that and I showed that I have the speed to get top finishes. I know the result wasn’t what I wanted, but I rode very well after the crash and I’m looking forward to next week.”

Carpenter made it through the first lap and rode strong as he continued to pass riders. He eventually moved into tenth place on lap twelve and set his sites on ninth. He inched closer and closer each lap and was on the back wheel of ninth place at the white flag. The two riders passed each other on the last lap but Carpenter couldn’t make the pass stand and finished tenth.

“My bike worked awesome,” said Carpenter. “I just couldn’t get my starts down all night so it’s something I need to work on. I felt really good going into the main event and I know I should have finished better. There are a lot of races left though and I know we’ll be up there.

The Cernics Kawasaki Racing Team will travel to Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ next week for round two of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series on January 10, 2009.
